Scott recounts being struck by lightning between Bermuda and New York City. Chances are 1 in 1000 for a boat to be struck by lightning according to US Boat Insurance. Lightning is as unpredictable as it is powerful. Despite all the preparation and good practices preparing his boat for lightning no amount of preparation could prepare him for the lightning strike.
